Stupid People Die In Stupid Ways

Stupid People Die In Stupid Ways.
I've been using this axiom for at least 20 years, and when you think about it, it is soooooo true. I have a story to tell about a friend who did just that and you'll be shaking you're head by the end of the story.
Sue and I had been friends since I was a sophomore in high school, and that friendship lasted a good 30 years. Sue was book smart alright, her IQ was 160, but she was lacking when it came to common sense things. For example, she didn't know she was supposed to change the oil in her car, every 3 months or 3000 miles. Instead of going to one of those places that change your oil in 10 minutes , she just kept adding oil to the engine. I tried to explain to her that if she didn't the oil would break down and she would have big problems.... well consequently she did, her engine blew and she ended up having to get a new car. ( over the years I repeated my axiom time and time again to her but it just didn't sink in. )
Sue didn't know how to wash her own car - I am not making this up - nor could she figure out how to change a furnace filter. Those types of things were just beyond her fathoming. What she could do is figure out the most complicated Trigonometry equation, that would make Einstein proud.
Now Sue was a pet lover, she had about 12 cats, which is cool because she took good care of them. They were her babies. About 4 years ago, while she and her "manfriend" ( I use that term loosely) were sleeping, her house caught on fire. Well she and her partner managed to get out safely and he had left the door opened in case any of the pets were able to make it out.
Now here's were the axiom comes into play.
Sue had gone back into the house, which was ablaze and full of smoke, to save the cats. Consequently she was trapped in the fire, and died from smoke inhalation. It was sad that she died, but it didn't have to happen in such of a tragic way.
I'm a pet lover, but common sense tells me that when you are blessed enough to escape a raging fire with your life, do not, and I repeat DO NOT go back in. You're own life is far more valuable.
So the moral of the story is, Please don't be a stupid person, and die in a stupid way. I'd miss you way to much.
